The market is gradually picking up
In the first half of this year, the demand for construction machinery such as excavators was under short-term pressure due to the downturn in infrastructure construction. However, after entering the third quarter, there has been a marginal improvement.
In October, the China Construction Machinery Industry Association counted 26 excavator manufacturing companies, selling 20,501 excavators of various types, an increase of 8.1% year-on-year, of which 11,350 were domestic, down 9.91% year-on-year; 9,151 were exported, an increase of 43.8% year-on-year. Statistics on 22 loader manufacturers show that in October 2022, 9,448 loaders of various types will be sold, a year-on-year increase of 1.85%. Among them, 6,304 units were sold in the domestic market, down 5.98% year-on-year; 3,144 units were exported, up 22.3% year-on-year.
"The recovery of construction machinery to positive growth is driven by multiple factors, among which the national policy of stabilizing growth has played a significant role. Since the beginning of this year, the state has issued many policies to stabilize growth, which has formed a key supporting role in promoting the development of the entire industry.
Export sales exceed domestic sales
On October 25, Sany Heavy Industry announced that from January to September, the company achieved international sales revenue of 25.88 billion yuan, a substantial increase of 43.7% year-on-year, 10.8 percentage points faster than the first half of the year. Among them, the sales revenue of Asia and Australia was 11.595 billion yuan, an increase of 52.3%; the sales revenue of the European region was 7.517 billion yuan, an increase of 26.5%; the sales revenue of the Americas was 4.846 billion yuan, an increase of 63.5%; the sales revenue of the African region was 1.92 billion yuan , an increase of 29%.
Since the third quarter, construction machinery as a whole has been able to return to positive growth, and export growth has indeed played an important role. In the first nine months of this year, my country's export sales of excavators reached 80,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 70.5%. In September, the export sales of excavators exceeded domestic sales for the first time, accounting for 50.35%.
